Ustream Cancelled for tonight

Unfortunately I have to cancel tonight's Ustream show.

My husband has had an unexpected health issue and 

we will likely be at the Urgent Care center at the time

my show is scheduled to start.

Above is a photo of the project I put together during

last week's show. Next week I'll be creating the tags

and embellishing the pages and the cover.

UStream Tonight

On tonight's show a different version of this

mini book will be made which will be a

non-traditional Valentine theme.

Shhhhhhh...I plan to give it to my hubby.

retired, so it's no longer available.

I will be using 6" X 6" Designer Series Paper (also retired),

rubber stamps, and accessories for this project.

 

This mini book is made using a die for the Big Shot.

Ustream Tonight

Tonight on my Ustream broadcast I will make 1 Christmas card then continue to construct the mini album/mini scrapbook that was started last week. Each page (front & back) of this mini album has 5 pockets which allows plenty of room for photos and journaling. Because last week was Use Your Stash Dash I used some retired Designer Series Paper.

The Christmas card I'm making will use the Big Shot and an embossing folder, 3 punches, and the Triple Treat Flower a la cart stamp, Cherry Cobbler 1/2" Scallop Dots Ribbon, Whisper White, Cherry Cobbler, and Garden Green card stocks, as well as Cherry Cobbler and Garden Green inks.

The card design is very simple and the stamped image could be very easily changed out for another image.

Nautical Expedition Flip Book Part 2

    This is the 2nd post showing the Nautical Expedition Flip Book the photo is of the book when you first open it up. This is a mini album or it could be called a mini scrapbook. It would make a great gift for that person in your life who enjoys sailing or tall sailing ships, or just loves all things nautical. This paper retired just a few days ago. I'm so sad to see it go. The coordinating stamp was also supposed to retire at that time but I have good news!! Stampin' Up! announced yesterday that they are going to continue to have The Open Sea stamp set available for purchase until the end of June. Wooohooo!!! This Designer Series Paper is still available as a digital download for My Digital Studio.

    I'm up later than I wanted to be typing this in so if you want to see more information about this project you can click here. The card stock which makes up the base of the project is Crumb Cake. The other card stocks you see in the photo are Night of Navy and Cherry Cobbler.

Paisley Petals Flip Album/Scrapbook Part 1

    I was excited to make a Flip Album/ Scrapbook using the Paisley Petals Designer Series Paper after I made the Nautical Expedition Flip Album which you can see here. As you can see I have not embellished it at all. It looks very bare but shows off the paper beautifully. I haven't yet settled on what photos will go in this mini album. Until I make that decision I won't add anything else to it. This project came together really quickly because I decided where which papers were going to go before I cut any Designer Series Paper.

Nautical Expedition Flip Book Part 1

    I had so much fun making this Nautical Expedition Flip book! This is a mini scrapbook which isn't really that hard to create. If you've been following my blog at all you know that I have a lot (hundreds) of photos of The Lady Washington and some of the Hawaiian Chieftan as well. Both are tall sailing ships which come to Whidbey Island from time to time. The Lady Washington is probably best known because she was the HMS Interceptor in the Pirates of the Carribean Curse of the Black Pearl movie. (She's the ship that was stolen at the beginning of the movie and the one that was blown up much later in the movie.) This is the perfect mini album to put some of those photos into!!

    This book came together rather quickly and easily. I made a couple of these books several years ago and thought it would be fun to make a new one using this fabulous paper. When working on this kind of a project I typically agonize over choosing just the right paper. Not this time! Knowing how the book goes together and opens and opens and opens I decided which papers from this collection would go on which sections. It only took me about 10 minutes or less to decide!! (Yay me for being so quick about it!!!) I did that before I cut ANY paper at all. From there the project was a snap to put together.

Mini Album for Cilla Tutorial

    Today's post as promised is the tutorial for the Mini Album that I made for our daughter, Cilla, as a birthday present which has been featured on here the last couple of days. The finished book measures 4" X 4". Back when I made this project I did not take any photos as I made it so I had to make a new one.....awww darn!  An excuse to pull out some paper, some stamps, ink and an opportunity to create something! lol (Any way we can fit it in will do, won't it?)

      So this first photo is of the new project front. I REALLY like The Open Sea stamp set and Nautical Expedition Designer Series Paper!! This mini book/mini album/mini scrapbook is a great opportunity to use up some small scraps of Designer Series Paper as well as small scraps of card stock.

 

    

     First I selected the photos I wanted to put in this little book and used My Digital Studio to reduce them down to sizes that would fit. Then I printed it out on my home printer on 8 1/2" X 11" Whisper White card stock.

    These photos were taken during a Battle Sail aboard the Lady Washington. She will be docked in Coupeville, WA this weekend during the Coupeville Arts & Crafts Festival.

  

    

 

 

    Next I took a piece of 8 1/2" by 11" and cut a strip 4" X 11"

 

    Score this piece at 4" and 8"

 

 

    

    Cut another piece of card stock  of the same color 3 3/4 X 7 3/4"

 

    Score this piece at 3 7/8" (same as folding it in half)

 

   

 

    

 

 Attach the smaller piece centered on the center section of the larger piece.

 

Decorate as desired

Mini Album for Cilla Part 2

   

    As promised yesterday, here is the rest of the Mini Album I made for our daughter. This photo is of when you turn the page. The next photo down below shows the entire inside with the album completely unfolded. I really liked making this little book it was a quick and fun project. 

 

 

 

    

You might be wondering how I got the photos to be the exact size to fit. They really didn't lend themselves to being cropped a lot. My Digital Studio has the photo box feature which allows photos and Designer Series Paper to be dropped into it. I can create the size I need big or small. Then all I need to do is print it on card stock or on the paper of my choice.

   One of the problems with small mini books is having photos be the right size to fit them. Having your photos printed at a store has great limitations as to re-sizing. I supposed if I owned Photo Shop it might be easier but I don't because there is such a HUGE learning curve for using the program. The program I do have is supposed to be able to print the sizes I want but I haven't figured that part of the program out yet. The other option is to have your photos printed larger than cut out the part you need but that seems to be a waste of time and money.

Mini Album for Cilla

   I made this mini album a several months ago  for our daughter, Cilla, for her birthday. She turned 29 recently! (I love you Cilla!!) I got the idea for this book because of a similar one I saw online but I added an extra flap. I don't remember who designed the one I saw so I can't give credit.

 

 

 

 

     The photos were printed using My Digital Studio on Whisper White card stock. The Designer Series Paper I used is now retired, it was the In Color 6 X 6 stack which was a hostess item in the last catalog. I decided to use Peach Parfait because of the older photos which are scans of non-digital photos obviously taken over 20 years ago. My how our world has changed!!

 

  This shows the book open to the first section. 

 

  I love making mini books!! I get great satisfaction from making them!
